What is a Nia class like?
Nis is a cardio and whole-body conditioning program for body, mind, emotion, and spirit. Flavored by dance arts, martial arts, and healing movement arts, Nia offers a full range of soft and strong movements to improve overall conditioning in all of us. Non-impact and done with barefeet, Nia awakens our senses and opens us to the pleasure and joy of moving, and of course, the health benefits. A typical Nia class is one hour. Each class starts with a focus (what you'll put your attention on) and gentle warm-up movements. From there, we transition into a more cardiovascular section, and then close with cool-down stretches that feel like playing on the floor (no more yucky floor "work"! Each teacher provides levels which honor light, moderate, or more intense workouts for each individual. With regular practice, you'll get stronger, more flexible and agile and yes...happier! Beginners start at any time. All-fitness levels invited and celebrated.
