Modern Dance--Playing with Balance, Shapes and Space

Expressing in all four Nia realms:

  • Physically, Modern Dance offers us ways to shape-shift--to be small, big, a ball, box, bee, anything we desire. Modern Dance is our answer to possibilities and choices. 
  • Mentally, Modern Dance offers us linear thought and fluid imagination, all at once or separately.
  • Emotionally, Modern Dance offers the space to explore extremes and subtleties, dramatic body language.  Modern Dance lets us paint pictures in life using emotions as color, texture, and flavor.
  • Spiritfully, Modern Dance is the energy of all things, pushing the boundaries of compositional form. Modern Dance gives us our own improv stage, taking us everywhere we want to go.

Watch in your everyday life how Modern Dance expresses.  What dramatic, moody, boundary-pushing free-form movements do you see?  An eagle poised high in the sky, swooping down to the water, then lifting back up to the sky.  A cat slinking along the grass, freeze-framing into a motionless minute, then pouncing on a leaf.  Spring!  What else do you see?  Modern Dance, shape-shift, your way through your week noticing the sensations that you feel, the possible boundaries that you break through.
