NiaDivas Summer Treasure HuntTreasure Hunt Week #8 (August 26, 2008) - GRAND FINALE!By Lesley Tinker on Aug 26 2008 - 9:34pm Welcome to week #8 of the NiaDivas' Summer Treasure Hunt to find the magical you. GRAND FINALE!
But first...Week #7's treasure was the SHOULDER. How'd you do? Experiences to share? Comments welcome. Now...Onward to Week #8.
Your Body's Treasure: Clue #8 I amd the combination of the last 7 weeks. I am the combination and accumulation of the last 7 weeks. Though each one of me is individual, I can operate as a whole to provide you with countless ways to condition your body andcreate movements. Whether you are lethargic, or just waking up, stimulate each one of my parts with gentle movements to bring energy and life to your whole body.
I Am Energized By... The 13-Joint Stimulation Exercise. Starting with the left side of the body, stimluate (roll, fold, extend etc.) each of your joints one at a time. Begin with your left ankle and consecutiely move through allt he left sided joints: ankle, knee, hip, wrist, elbow and sholder. Next move your entire spine. After that, stimulate the right side of your body, one joint at a time beginning with the right shoulder moving through your elbow, wrist, hi, iknee and ankle. For the finale, move all thirteen joints simultaneously for a few minutes. You'll feel sensory awake and full of energy.
In Every Day Life... Become conscious of generating movements from your 13 joints. Notice how opening and closing these joints actively milks the muscles to condition your body. When you feel aches, pains or stiffness, look to the surrounding joints for movements that help you heal. As you move throughout every day life, envision your joints as connectors to moving your bones with ease and fluidity. Also consider, the "opposite side" of your joints, whether it is the inner elbow, the fold of your knee or the back of your ankle. We wish you a pleasant week of continuing self-discovery and finding the gems of your body! For those of you in the Seattle area, we're looking forward to being with you soon, next week, in person, in class!
